From time to time we host Fundraising & Awareness Events to help sustain
the Haywood Street ministries and strengthen our connections within the Asheville community.  We also host Workshops & Training Events for those interested in learning more about our model of ministry. See below for more information on these two different types of events.

Workshops & Training

We are always happy for individuals and groups to visit and learn more about what we are doing [Please review our planning a visit page].  For those desiring something more like training, we offer the following options:

  • A Welcoming Table. A three day experiential training event that includes an introduction to the Haywood Street ministries and covers topics ranging from volunteer management and fundraising to best practices for transformational, relationship-based ministry with the poor.  May 9-11, 2018. More

  • Companion Ministry Development Workshop. A one day workshop focused on Haywood’s central organizing framework, the Companion Ministry. Appropriate for ministry teams already familiar with Haywood’s model that are interested in making a shift from a more traditional “to” or “for” orientation to a “with” approach to engaging with those living on the margins.  Download a handout for more information and to register.

  • Peer-to-Peer Learning. Advanced training for organizations already engaged in cutting edge ministries with and among the poor. Dialogue and learning around common challenges and opportunities such as maintaining staff wellness, positive approaches to campus safety, and navigating relationship in the context of addiction and mental illness.  Will take place alongside our A Welcoming Table experiential training event. To register, choose Track B.

Please contact Laura with questions or for more information about any of these options.  laura@haywoodstreet.org or 828-575-2477, ext 104.
