Yes indeed, it was a big day for Nelson! Faithful in his service in our dining room, Wednesday he seemed unusually happy while running the ‘bus station’ (where all the dirty dishes are collected), and we soon found out why.
First, a little bit of Nelson’s story. From VA, he came to Asheville a little over six years ago, sent here to a half-way house after completing a prison term. He managed to find a part-time job fairly quickly, and began saving up for an apartment. He soon got married, got the apartment, kept working, and kept saving. He now works for Clean Environments, a group that provides janitorial services to businesses in the area. His big news yesterday was that he and his wife were signing the papers for the purchase of their first house!
Nelson is active in Sycamore Temple Church of God on North Ann Street. He said, “God is working in my life,” and feels He has richly blessed him and his wife, now disabled, these last few years. Nelson, we congratulate you on your determination, perseverance, and success, and wish you both much happiness!
