Angel Tree Project

Haywood Street Congregation

Join Us In Making Christmas Angels

Saturdays — November 3, November 10, November 24
 Noon – 4pm
Dining Room

This project blossomed from a poignant visit last year in the Sanctuary.  An elderly lady lingered after service, looking at the decorated Christmas tree. She pointed to a paper doily angel ornament, remarking that angels were all about Haywood Street Congregation, helping her through some tough times.

I asked her if she would like the angel. She was so touched, clutching it close and protecting it from the falling snow outside in the night.  As we hugged and said goodbye, a thought came to mind….we need more angels.

So, we are creating homemade angels out of lace, paper doilies, fabric, wire, artificial flowers (petals make a lovely skirt), and more. We will decorate a tree in the front lobby where folks gather and come in from the cold.  We will also have a basket filled with more angel ornaments to give away during the holiday season.

If you like crafts….hand sewing, using a glue gun, and other ways of creating something special, please join us….drop in for an hour or stay as long as you want.

We will have instructions, but also open to your ideas, too.  Please bring your own scissors.  If you have a glue gun and any supplies….great!  This will be like an old fashioned quilting bee – making angels to fill the tree.

Thanks so much,
