Phillip faithfully serves in our dishroom most Wednesdays and sometimes comes by when things are quiet (as on this day when he took it upon himself to tidy and organize the server station) because this place is a source of strength for him. He grew up in this church and attended Sunday School and Boy Scouts here when it was the original Haywood Street United Methodist Church. Today he describes it as a “community church” with an emphasis on the word community — a place where we can lean on each other when we’re having trouble holding up on our own. Phillip is going through a tough time watching his dad struggle with dementia and other health problems. He asks for continued prayers from the community for his dad, for his brothers and sisters, and for himself.
