Today, Emmanuel is all about the Parable of the Good Samaritan. I struggle to follow along, as I often do with Bible stories, but he is patient with me; breaking the story into its parts and its meanings and its parallels to our own lives. “Did you grow up in the Church?,” I ask him. “Oh yeah,” he says. “Southern Baptist?” “Of course.” He says, “It’s alright…I mean, Baptist is phase one. It’s a starting point for your relationship with God.” I gotta say, the framework of religion and worship as an entrance, an introduction to faith–that’s a pretty powerful framework to consider.
