A message from Avery about the prayer ministry:

“Well… ALL we can do now is pray.” I hear people say this as though we’re out of options and we’ve scraped the bottom of the barrel. In truth prayer is the BEST thing we can use in dealing with anything we face. Jesus told His disciples, “Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” There is a joy from seeing answered prayers, and we see that every week. Sometimes it’s just a process of listening, and in the telling of the story, a heart gets healed. Sometimes it’s a prayer and a tangible sense of God’s presence. Sometimes it’s a long-carried pain that lifts. Sometimes it’s just sitting quietly in a peaceful room.

Every Wednesday someone is at Haywood St. in the Prayer Room (formerly the library) between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Sometimes we’re there a bit later than that.

Sometimes when we’re in prayer with someone the door gets pushed closed, but don’t let that stop you from coming in to ask for prayer. Usually there will be several prayer ministers there, and if it gets too crowded in the room, we can always step out and take a walk to find another quiet place to talk and pray.

Pictured in the photo are prayer ministers Rabia, Karen, Trai, Betty, and Avery. We’ll be saying goodbye to Trai for a while, as he is planning to leave on Monday for several months in Tennessee. We’ll look forward to his return!
