Hey Haywood Street family. My name is Bryan Mitchell and you may have seen me around campus over the years involving myself in the community. This feels like a homecoming for me. I am excited to be caretaking for the holy grounds that we find ourselves in on a weekly basis. Along with many others, I desire to make Haywood Street a welcoming, beautiful, and restful space for all those who find themselves here.
My vocational journey is as varied as they come – city planning, business, and ministry – but my main roles nowadays are husband and father. Finding my way back to work at the place where my calling began feels true and life-giving. My primary calling is practicing full presence with and listening well to others. Utilizing these gifts, along with the gift of administration, I look to facilitate the spaces, experiences, and conversations for people to explore and practice Christianity. I believe it is through community and spiritual practices that we find the Triune God who whispers the answers to our burning life questions. So chat me up when you see me!
An amazing discovery over the last couple of weeks has been witnessing the presence of saints in our midst. You have surely experienced this before – the joy and surprise at discovering those souls who are caring for others and our space with such faithfulness. On no less than five different occasions last week I witnessed our fellow saints Ann, Abraham, Paul, Philip, and Eric all contributing their love and devotion to our holy place. They are the reason I keep coming back. It is wonderful to be here. |
