COMPANION MINISTRY ANNOUNCEMENT:
Our initial prediction before the Christmas holiday was that we would be able to welcome companions back in some capacity after Feb. 1. While we desperately miss each of you and the spirit you bring to Haywood Street, we have decided to wait a bit longer to ensure a more safe transition. With the possibility of community vaccinations on the horizon and positive cases beginnings to trend down, we are hopeful. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
As we begin to dream about new opportunities for expansion of our ministries and eventual “re-opening,” we hope you will be apart of the conversation and that you will help guide us as a community. Companion zoom hours for the next few months will focus on bringing updates from our staff as well as taking 15-20 minutes at the end of each conversation to brainstorm and imagine coming together again.
Upcoming Companion Zoom Hours:
Feb 18 @ 4:00 PM – Exec. Director, Laura Kirby, will be there to share updates and answer questions
March 4 @ 3:00 PM – Bryan Mitchell will be there to give vision for the building and grounds and share updates and answer questions
March 18 @ 3:00 PM – Father Mike Reardon will be there to visit, share updates and answer ministry questions.

My name is Lauran Nicole Brown. I was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. Upon graduating from Asheville High School in 2003 I went on to Johnson & Wales University to pursue a degree in hospitality management. I worked in many different aspects of hospitality from food service to front desk and housekeeping. I worked as a private duty caregiver for 5 years in Charlotte. Once I made it back to Asheville in 2015 I found myself wanting to help my community in many aspects. I have worked as a volunteer Cheerleading Coach with the Asheville Youth league and now with Asheville Middle School. I am very active in my Church Blue Ridge Biker Church. I have the privilege to lead in praise and worship on Sundays as well as Head up our Outreach program Midnight Ministry, with helping the Asheville homeless.I have always had the passion to help people and I can not think of a better way to help my community. I am excited to have the opportunity to become a part of the Respite community as the Assistant to the Program Director and getting to know more people in the community.
