Hi, my name is Ben and I am new around Haywood Street. I am one of the ministry interns this summer. I am coming to you from Duke’s Seminary just over in Durham and am grateful for the way the Haywood community has welcomed me with open arms.
In school we talked a lot about what it means for all people to have sacred worth being made in God’s image. We talked even more about what Christ did as he walked on the earth and how he interacted and engaged with people in a loving way.
What I admire about Haywood is that it lives into that practically. At Haywood the sacredness and dignity of all people are affirmed, and people move toward each other in love in the way of Christ. Just as Jesus sat with and listened with others, so too is Haywood a place where all have the opportunity to be heard and known.
Haywood is full of grace and forgiveness and I am so grateful to be a part of y’alls community. I am learning a lot about what it means to be in community together this summer. Thank you for having me, affirming me, and pouring into me during our time together. |
