We recently reached out to a local textile artist to see if she and her fellow quilters would be interested in donating wall hangings to Haywood Street Respite to decorate individual rooms, knowing that fiber art would add warmth and beauty. Quilters Janice Maddox and Dort Lee visited Respite to see the space and to learn about this ministry that offers a place for unhoused friends to rest and recuperate following a hospital stay. Just a few short weeks later Janice delivered to us over twenty quilts to be used as wall hangings and lap quilts at Respite, collected from members of PTA (Professional Textile Artists). The artistry of each piece is amazing. We are grateful for their talent and their generosity! We hope to plan a blessing ceremony of the quilts soon, but in the meantime we wanted to express our sincere appreciation to: Georgia Bonesteel, Dort Lee, Janice Maddox, Barbara Swinea, and Kathryn Weston.
